I called the phone number on RE's website, hoping to speak with a Resonant Engineering employee. Instead, I got some dude in California who said he works for USAmp. He said USAmp bought out RE with plans to offer a full range of car audio products (presumably to take on the big boys).
He said a few things which concerned me:
1) RE doesn't sell direct to the consumer anymore; you have to buy from a dealer at dealer's prices.
2) You cannot speak directly with anyone at RE anymore. When I first bought my RE sub, I talked to one of the techs who made my sub. That was pretty cool.
3) The guy was a salesman. f.ucking ICK! I had to take a shower after talking to him, that's how slimy I felt. As a former salesman, I HATE salesmen.
I prefer dealing with smaller, high quality shops like what RE used to be.
Oh, well...I guess that's called progress.
Has anyone had experiences with USAmp/RE since the buyout?
