Resonant Engineering got bought!

I called the phone number on RE's website, hoping to speak with a Resonant Engineering employee. Instead, I got some dude in California who said he works for USAmp. He said USAmp bought out RE with plans to offer a full range of car audio products (presumably to take on the big boys).

He said a few things which concerned me:

1) RE doesn't sell direct to the consumer anymore; you have to buy from a dealer at dealer's prices.

2) You cannot speak directly with anyone at RE anymore. When I first bought my RE sub, I talked to one of the techs who made my sub. That was pretty cool.

3) The guy was a salesman. f.ucking ICK! I had to take a shower after talking to him, that's how slimy I felt. As a former salesman, I HATE salesmen.

I prefer dealing with smaller, high quality shops like what RE used to be.

Oh, well...I guess that's called progress.

Has anyone had experiences with USAmp/RE since the buyout?

If you wan't help with RE products, I'd say find Tuan on these boards and shoot him a pm. He's always been real helpful to me with RE stuff. His name on here is Toxic Tuan.

Welcome to the demise of RE, Weve been witnesses for 3 months. Overpriced, crappy service, mmmm yummy Resonant Engineering; JL Audio's little crackhead brother.

hey man, the prices more than doubled as well,
Yeah, I noticed that, too. They said they make the AX500DE amp, which is a 500Wx1 @ 2 Ohm D/E-class amp, which retails at SIX HUNDRED DOLLARS! That's criminal.

Resonant Engineering is dead. Long live Resonant Engineering!

You cant bag on a company for wanting to make money and for trying to become a bigtime company. Yeah it sux for us, but its better for RE. RE has giving me many years of great service and even greater product. I for one am glad to see them going mainstream and wish them the best, even if it doesn't benefit me.
