Request:Car Audio Recommendation

Problem

Right after my 100K warranty died, so did my OE Bose CD changer.

Car

2003 Nissan Murano

Desired Features in new CD Audio unit

  • MP3/WMA Playback capability
  • iPod ready
  • Aux and/or USB Input
  • Satellite Radio Ready (Sirius and/or XM)
  • Bluetooth
  • HD-Audio Ready

Questions

The Bose unit is double-sized in the Murano dash; wil I need a unit that is similiarly sized, or can an installer make a standard sized unit fit with a kit? If they can make it fit, will it look good?

Is there a problem connecting a non-Bose unit to my Bose speakers? If not, is this an expensive prospect?

Any recommendations and/or suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

OTR

you would probobly want a double din unit, id suggest spending the extra money and for about $500 you could get a nice double din touchscreen dvd and possibly navigation while your at it. It should fit right in to the exsiting spot and look great. GL

almost always a their are kits that will make a standard size (single din) head unit fit fine. Usually pricewise single din units seem to have a lot more performance for the buck, but a double din would probably look nicer and if you have a budget for one i would recommend it.

usually their are simple cable adapters that can be plugged in from the head unit to the speakers/speaker amp(not sure if their is an amp for the speakers in your car, my 03 escape had one). I would recommend replacing the speakers in at least your front doors, if you have the budget for it.

can't really give a recommendation on a head unit, since i don't know much about bluetooth/hd audio ones, although I would recommend you give us a budget and someone else should be able to make a good suggestion.

Hey guys,

Thanks for the quick replies. It's much appreciated.

My budget will be just for the replacement for in-dash unit - no budget for changing speakers. I would love to keep materials + installation to around $500.00 if at all possible. Not interested in DVD or video, but thanks for the suggestion.

Double-din is sounding more & more as the way I should go.

Cruising through your products pages, I saw this unit:

It seems to have all the bells & whistles I'm after.

Any thoughts?

Thanks again,

OTR

Any reviews or opinions on the JVC KWXG700?

It's got all the features I'm after, and it is double-din - so it appears that it will fit in my Murano's dash. I've read 2 reviews, and both are favorable.

I'm eager to hear what you Car Audio gurus have to say.

If any of your have had personal experience with the unit: bonus //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
