req makes his VW GTi infinite baffle with IDQ15's PICS :D

Looks good.

Nice man.... but it's req, you know he'll mess something up :p

actually req is the man when it comes to anything that involves fiberglass. hey, you want me to send you some of that spiffy felt? Or did you bring some with you? I'm sure I can go grab a few more yards for you at the store :p We know how much everyone loves your patented felt for fiberglassing...

Lol, to me it looks like its just gonna be a huge sealed enclosure. Looks like that space is less then 4cft. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I could be wrong but he may be using some form of membrane on the woofers. Anyways nice work I'm sure its gonna turn out great.

thanks for the comments. and dave, you dont count. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

but i do have a few cool ideas!

hopefully, weather permitting, i can get a couple more pieces done on this and maybe by next weekend have it in the finishing stages //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeeea, this wont be a 20 cube enclosure to get "true ib"

but it will be close enough. maybe ill take the spare tire out and make a big tuned AP membrane. how about that?!?!

What is the volume of your area behind the baffle? Just looked it up and saw that the Vas on those subs is 9.45 ft3 a piece.

Installation looks great so far.

actually im not quite sure on the air volume. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

just putting them in the largest enclosure i can manifest practically. i seriously didnt realize (until i just looked as well) that true infinite baffle for these should be 20+ cubes lol.

ill have to get the tape measure out and do some math.

Aww man... you're giving me all kinds of dangerous ideas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I take it this same concept would translate pretty well to a wagon? Basically make an MDF baffle to cover the whole rear cargo area... make sure you have a good seal along the sides, the rear gate, and the back seats and you're good to go?

I'm thinking this would let me get the kind of clean sub-bass I'm looking for without sacrificing cargo area... cause you can still store stuff below the baffle, right? It'll just compromise the volume temporarily...

If you made something like this aperiodic, would you have to vent outside of the car, or could you put a vent in the baffle itself and utilize the remaining volume in the cabin?
