reptile guys i need help

thanks for the replies...

im prolly gonna pick it up tomorrow if i get it. its wierd, ive always loved snakes and wanted a pet one, but my mom HATES them, but shes the one who said i could get it...

A large percentage of ball pythons are very picky eaters, as this one may be which would account for it's small size. I always prefer to buy them as hatchlings and raise them myself. You should be able to get a hatchling ball python for about $25 or so and still be able to buy the rest of your supplies and end up right around the $100 you'd spend on that one. I find ball pythons boring, but if it's your first one I guess it'd be alright.

I had one couple of years ago also. I bought mine in Chicago for $40. It was very small at first, but after I found out it's picky eating habits, it really started to grow. Also if the snake is only about 2ft long, then yes, it's a very picky eater, or the owner hasn't been taking care of it properly.

Also, to the OP, the ball pythons are kinda boring, but if it's your first snake, it should work out well for ya. Make sure to get a heat pad for under the tank, as they do not like the cold at all. Someone else also pointed this out, but I will remind you: "Do not be alarmed if the snake will not eat for about 4-5 months during the winter." That is just something they do. Also, N E V E R leave a mouse in the cage unattended. If the snake is not hungry, it will just curl up and the mouse will usually just nibble on it.

even after your snake takes a live mouse you should watch it to make sure the mouse/rat is not bitting it while the snake restricts it. yea the reason there boring is that they are nocturnal. my snakes all over the tank at night.

Most snakes are not as boring as ball pythons yet they're nocturnal also:fyi:
