Has anyone ever done or heard of replacing the speaker in a bazooka bass tube with somthing better? I have a silverado reg. cab things are a little tight. If I could get 2 high end 8's and run it off my 600.1 I might be satisfied.
A few years back when i got my first system i had a RF Punch 8 in a Bazooka Bass Tube run off a RF 500 mono amp it it pounded hard. Then after a weak the sub blew but was definatly better than the Bazooka crap.
If you want to continue to use the bass tube it would be worth it to fiberglass the inside. This will make the enclosure much stronger. Any sub can be placed in it as long as the volume of air space meets the speakers requirments. And in most cases blowing a speaker is not because of the bass tube, but do to user error on setting their amps gains...
But a bass tube can not come close to the quality of a properly built MDF box.
