Replacing motor in suv?

Hey guys, my mom found an 05' Expidition, has all leather interior, dvd players, alpine head unit, 4wd, bfg a/t tires, 3" lift and everything very nice, brand new for sale at a price she likes. She said she'd get it for me for my upcoming birth day, only thing is I have to pay for the motor out of my b-day money, owner put it a new one or something. How much does a motor cost for a 8 cyl. 4wd usually. I saw in a catalog a racing motor is around 3.5k so it can't be do bad.

lol my dad recently bought a 2000 ford explorer and he got it for 3k the only thing wrong with it was that it needed some repair to the body what you an do is go to a part place like a pull it pick up part something thats where he got the doors for it. they have motors for alot of vehicles that have gotten wrecked in some cases the motor is good just the body gets damaged
