Replacing Factory Speakers

I have a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, and I want to change the front door and dash speakers. Now, the front door speakers are 6x9 and the dash speakers are 3 1/2. I am thinking of purchasing a 6x9 component set and just using the tweeters in place of the 3 1/2" speakers. Will this work or do I need the 3 1/2's? Thanks in advance.
