remove Cd from an old un-installed head unit

Hi,

I substituted my factory default Clarion car audio with an Alpine one that's able to control my iPod. Everything it's ok with it and I'm very satisfied with my choice.

The problem is that, after removing my old unit and installing the new one, I realized I still had a CD inserted. I'd like to remove it from there cause it's not mine and I should return it...

Any of you guys who has an idea on how to remove the CD easily? Hardly :-D ?

just apply 12v and ground it...

should turn the unit on...then just eject it..

twist the yellow and red wires together then touch them and the ground wire to the + and - on you car battery.

Yeap, but where do I apply the 12v? I guess I can directly use the car cigarette plug as a 12v source but I need to figure out which are the pins I should apply the power to...

Any idea how to do that?

Hi,

are you referring to the wires that 'should' hang out of the head unit? Because I don't have any. The radio was a factory default and the car was equipped with a white plug"]white plug which fitter perfectly in the unit's socket.

You can do it underneath the hood right at the battery. Take some spare speaker wire wrap the constant 12v wire and ignition wire together (usually red and yellow) and hook them to the positive lead, do the same thing for the ground and your done.

I tend to use one of my rear floor mats to rest the radio on so that it does not ground out.

Ok....here you go

step 1: twist yellow and red wires together

step 2: find black "ground" wire

step 3: open hood

step 4: find battery

step 5: apply yellow and red (twisted together) on the + (positive) and the black (single) on the - (negative)

step 6: press the eject button on your cd player

step 7: VUALA, you have your cd, now remove the yellow and red and the black off the battery and close your hood because you are done.

Man your gonna have to cut the plug, the factory unit has a harness type thing. Ummmm...........that diagram does'nt help me unfortunately, I need colors...lol

I think the problem is that it's a factory head unit and there are no wires coming out of it. If that is the case you will have to determine which pins are power, ignition, and ground to energize it. Most have them listed on the bottom.

Another way is see if the top cover is easily removable usually like 4 small screws and try to remove it that way. Powering up the unit is alot easier.

If you can my some remote chance access the back of the deck currently installed just remove the factory plug that is now connected to the aftermarket wiring harness (plug) and plug it back into the deck long enough to eject the CD.

I need to figure out the pins. I'll have a look at my unit, maybe it does have a some sort of pinout displayed. Sometimes the solution is closer that you look for, right?

Do you know by any chance a place where to ask for the pinout?

I see, what kind of car did it come out of?

It's a Subaru Impreza Outback 2002.

The unit is a Clarion, no idea what model is that and I already looked up for it with no luck...
