remote turn on not working

hooked everything up today, go to turn the car on, amp doesnt turn on. works when i connect the remote wire to the power wire but from the head unit it doesnt work

i duno what could be messed up lol i know the amp is fine, any suggestions?

its definitely the right wire from the headunit

If all else fails then just run the remote wire in with a fuse that only receives power when the ignition is on/car is running by using a test light

Do you have a test light or dmm?

Pics of the back of the radio? What kind is it?

Or did you use the antenna remote wire. Happens a lot.

take out a DMM, take the remote wire from the back of the cd player, put the postive on it and ground the black lead on the DMM, turn the key in the ignition to on, and it should read around 12 volts. if it doesnt, then its a bad remote output on the radio.

its a kenwood xc590. i know its not the antenna wire. ill see if i can get a pic when i pull it out again tomorrow, ill also try using a dmm tomorrow as well

should i be using like a butt connector to connect the remote wire to the head unit, i didnt have one so i just ghetto taped it for now lol but i dont see why it wouldnt work at all?

how long is the wire, you may be losing too much voltage. maybe try a relay?

it runs from my head unit to the trunk, not especially that long. and yes thats what i was just about to do actually, i have to find my dmm to check the wire comin out of the hu before i do that though
