Remote Relay Help??

Looks like I am going to have to run a relay for my remote to my amps, becasue my amps will not stay on and I have tried everything else as far checking grounds and loose connections. The question is what guage wire do I need to run to the relay from the radio remote, can I use the standard 16-18ga remote wire? Does it need to be fused? Thanks

No, the remote turn on lead doesn't, but the power should be.

Have a question, if my headunit turns on all my gear and everything seems to be working well do I still need a relay? Can I cause damage without giving it that extra voltage. Mind you that I am running 4 amps, 2 sound processors, a crossover, and a preamp.

size doesnt really matter on the turn on lead as long as its not crazy small

I know people recommend using a relay, my question though is what will happen if I DONT use a relay? I dont have a problem with anything shutting off or not turning on.

You could overload the remote on circuit on the HU and destroy that circuit. Then nothing turns on.
