remote on amplifier?

i have a hifonics BXi1206D, and was wondering what i use the bass remote for, it reads 0db to 18db. i have my gains set at 34.4 volts, and when i plug the remote in and have it at 0db, my dmm reads 4.5v, when i turn the mote up to 18db, it reads 33.7... what do i use this for?

not sure about hifonics, but both my infinity and my american bass remotes were used to mess with the gain..

im pretty sure mine is too...cause like i said, the gain went up and down w/ the remote, just wondering how i would use this or if i even need to use this

I used mine for changing the gain between rock and rap, set it right with the knob tunred all the way up..

so then when you turn the knob all the way up, it will not exceed the correct gain setting

The remote bass know is not as sensitive as the actual gain on the amp. At least not on the Hifonics Brutus line BXd1606/BXi1606..etc..I used mine in the front to change from say hip hop to rock, but i found myself playing with it too much.... They are not as good as they seem, that's my opinion.

Pardon my ignorance, but if it is showing a 0db to 18db scale, isn't it a bass boost and not a remote gain control? On all of my amps the gain scale is measured based on input voltage, typically from 4v to 0v, so your gain increases as you move towards 0v (a lower input voltage). Bass boost on mono amps typically allows you to set a frequency and then a boost level, basically a really simple 1 band eq.

Its not a gain knob, Its a bass boost knob. It will boost a certain freq, it should have freq knobs next to it? Ive never seen a hifonics: I use mine as others stated above.
