Remote Bass Knob Question

Hey guys, I picked up a JL 1000/1 to use with my 12w7. I will be using a Pioneer Premier headunit from a few years ago. However I don't want to have that car bumping all the time //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif. Included with my old Kicker ZX1000.1 amp was a small remote knob and about 17 feet of phone wire. This allowed me to have the bass up loud when I wanted, and then down low when I didn't want painfully loud bass //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif.

However a bass remote knob for the JL will cost about $40 shipped. Can I use my Kicker knob and just plug that into the JL? It would save me a good penny.

No one has tried this in the past?

The car is far from being ready so I was hoping to buy all the parts at once and do

the install in a day. I hate to take the car apart for the wiring just to realize the Kicker remote wont work and I have to wait a week for a JL remote in the mail //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif.

They both use phone cords so what would be the issue? Just switch the knob...............

I figured as much. That's something I could see myself confusing by not really thinking hard enough about it. LOL

You dont even have to run the cord through the car at first just connect it to the amp and see if it works.

Yes, I was just assuming he meant he wanted to get it ran regardless of whether it worked or not.

I wouldnt do it, Some of those Knobs have different wiring configs and you could risk damage to your amplifier.

Just spend the 40 bucks on the JL Audio Gain Knob and be done with it.
