I just recieved my kicker ex1000.1, and it comes with a remote bass knob. Im just wondering about how safe it is to use? it has 0-15db settings. do i set my gains with it set at 0 or 15 db? does it make a difference to when im setting gains? Im worried about clipping it without realising.

Thanks in advance for any help.

The way that it is intended to be used is to set the gains with the controller at the maximum level, this way you have less chance of making your amp clip.

I like to have a little extra wiggle room as I listen to a wide assortment of music. Some of which is pretty anemic in the bass region. What I do is set the gains with the remote almost all the way up, but with a little bit of room for older recordings.
