Religion Thread

Just a thought, evolution shows how man has "evolved" and therfore man is just an "animal". If man is just a meaningless "animal" in this vast universe, then why would it be wrong to kill somebody? I mean, if evolution were true, then when we died, we would just go back to the earth to be recycled. However, I think basically all people believe that it is not right to kill someone. And no one wants someone else to kill them, why do we find out life so precious? If we value life so much, then there has to be something that shows or tell us that life is valuable. That is why there must by some type of creator of the universe, someone to give us laws to live by, such as "thou shalt not kill".... just a thought of mine...

Ever heard of the body of believers? Every sin that you commit is hurting to the body of Christ, therefore, if you cuss, which is a sin in the Bible, than it is hurting to the body of believers. Therefore, it is wrong to cuss.
well, if used in context, are those words considered cussing??

umm please elaborate on the body of christ thing, ive heard of it but, never knew much about it. but how can a sin "hurt" the body of christ?

Look at the murder rates in this country and see how that fails, often.

I guess - organized religion has everything written down, I go day to day on my own set of morals and values that I've developed from all the influences I've had. Different approaches, same results.

Let me talk about the big bang for a second, the big bang states that all the matter of the universe was condensed in a very tiny spec of matter, probably smaller than a dot on a sheet of paper. This matter started spinning, and it spun so fast that it exploded. In physics, it has been shown that if an object is spinning in a certain direction, and part of that object flies off, then it too will spin in the same direction. We have planets that spin in opposite directions.....maybe the big bang should explain that....

As far as evolution and Christianity you can't put the two together, how would the "soul" of man "evolved". Also, man is created in God's image. Man did not "evolve" , he was "created". Also, if evolution is true, then the earth would be about 4.3 billion years old. Personally, I believe that the world is about 6,000 to 10,000 years old, based on Biblical lineage.

here is something very interesting:

The population of the world today is about 6 billion, in 1985 it was only 5 billion, in about 1800 it was only 1 billion, at the time that Christ walked the earth there were only about 250,000 people in the entire world. If you plot these numbers on a graph, and get the curve for it, your y-value for 0 (which would be a population of 0) is about 4400 years ago, which is the approximate date of the flood...

why are they called "curse" words? If Jesus was here, do you think he would use them?

i belive in evolution...well a form of it. Called "Microevolution"

its where organisms adapt to thier environment.

however, i DO NOT belive in "acroevolution" where it is believed that we evolved from tiny little microorganisms. if the genes of a monkey is mutated, you get a mutated monkey, not an entirly different organism.

yea we were born with evil in us. so yea... in other words we were born to sin.

These morals and values you ahve cannot come straight from your own intellect. They have to come partially from some other source or influence.

Actually, there's no scientific evidence (credible, at least) that explains what happened before everything exploded. I call BS on anything that gives an absolute answer to that - we simply are in the dark. Science can narrow it very accurately (if you believe in it) down to a very, very close interval, but anything beyond time = 0 is a guess.

Retrograde motion of the planets, btw, is Newtonian mechanics - something even organized religion can't challenge //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

how would the "soul" of man "evolved".
"Soul" wasn't part of Darwin's research on isolation groups of finches - he was concerned about adaptive strategies for survival. Would you concede that it's possible for a creator to have created a species of bird, for example, and over hundreds of generation that bird would have developed specialized traits (different feet, different beaks, better eyesight, etc, etc...) based on their environment? If you answer yes - you've just combined Christianity and evolution.

people do not naturally "adapt" to their environment, if people lived in extremely hot climates, would they not have hair? If they naturally adapted, they would not have hair anymore because they would not need it....

that is just one example, we do adapt to our environments in certain ways but not in an evolutions perspective of what "adapting" is

yea.. like who originated these morals?? something had to come up with right and wrong.
