a friend of mine utilized his on my KCE-300BT

KCE-422i will work with 9883 9885 and 9887. I have personally tested it with the 9883 and it worked. I think the head unit has to be on before the iphone is connected.

are you trying to use the phone portion of the music portion?

if you plug in using the KCE-422i the phone functions won't work.

you need the KCE-300BT to utilize hands free, so it depends what portion you are trying to use.
