Refurbished Amps?

sometimes b stock amps will have more problems that wont be noticed until the amp is blown...again. its a roll of the dice. if they still comewith a warranty i wouldnt see a problem in buying one.

The only problem with refurbished amplifiers is that, even though the component that was bad was replaced, there may be other components that were weakened when said component died. As such, it increases the chances of these "weakened" components of failing.

However, this isn't very common. I usually run refurbished amps, you just want to make sure they are refurbished by someone who knows what they're doing, not Billy Bob in his basement.

Like people have already said.....Some are good, and others are bad. Just do your research before you buy.

I know when I got my old DEI refurb, they put a brand new board in it. Basically a new amp with an old heatsink. Never gave me the slightest problem.

i've had 2 refurbs. never gave me a lick of trouble. BUT, it depends on who does it IMO. there are some half-*** companys that i wouldn't let touch my amps. both of mine were done by the manufactuer (sp?), hopfully they know what they are doing.

Factory Refurbs usually = junk. High school aged kids clipping and replacing only the blown parts, soldering the new parts with mixmatched date codes to the leftover legs sticking out of the board from the bad parts that were clipped off. Poor soldering work, wrong parts, you name it. I have seen alot of so called "factory refurbs" and unless they have been reboarded or repaired by a reputable shop and you know it for a fact, I would stay away from them.

dB-r Refurbs = good as it gets, other than re-boarding. Which doesn't look over the new amp board for potential problems like we do. We solder the mosfets top and bottom on almost all of our refurbs to help prevent breakage. You won't get that from a factory refurb, even if it's a reboard.
