k long story short hooked up the terminals backwards and a big pop and smoke happened on the zx1000 so is it done for good or what? now it just turns on in protection

Do you mean you hooked up ground to positive and positive to negative on the power terminals?

Because just hooking your subs up out of phase shouldn't do that

If it goes straight into protect, im pretty sure its done for.
