Hope I'm somewhat in the right place for this post.
I have an alpine CDA-9884 Head unit
Audioque 1200D
3 JL 12W6 wired to 1 ohm.
Was installing the amp last night and it powered up but there was no output.
My friend backed up next to me and ran another set of rcas from his deck to my amp and still nothing. My REMOTE wire came out and I ran one from the positive cable at the amp and suddenly I have sound, using his rcas from HIS deck.
Well after playing around with the settings just to see what it could do I hooked his rcas up to my deck and nothing. Played around with the bass knob and got some output but the amp has to have the gained turned all the way up to barely get anything out of it.
Can I meter rcas to see if it's within spec of the deck documentation?
The bass knob is strange to me because the closer I get to min the louder it gets. Is the MIN and MAX misprinted on it?
Then there's the weird metallic popping sound when the amp powers on and off. Sounds like it comes from the speaker. Almost like a popping sound inside a pop can. This setup WAS working fine with my KAC-9703D amp.
Any troubleshooting steps would be appreciated.
