what you guys think should i go ahead and get an isolator? i do not want the red top to die on my as its 2 months old. i mean for 50 bucks for an isolator, id be willing to pay that if i can save my batteries/make them last longer. so would it hurt in anyway? the back battery will still get charged, but not take away from the red top up front right?and if i do would a 200 amp one be good? i see either 80 or 200 mostly on ebay.

I think the red top might be more likely to take away from the stinger. I dk. I was thinking about this too, cant wait to see what others think.

I run a stock battery up front and three stingers in the back and I use a Isolator... Very easy to hook up and I have never had a problem with it.... You cant go wrong in my eyes... If the stinger is resting at 12.6 and the optima is at 13.4 for example then the stinger will take the charge from the optima to even the voltage out.... Now I have heard that batteries that are diffrent sizes or brands will do that and keep going back and forth trying to keep the voltage the same until one of them dies on ya..... But like i said I heard that from someone so I dont know if its true...

The Bad about a isolator is that it can Drop your voltage a lil .

ya that's what i figured. i was looking at this stinger one here. also where did you hook up the ignition source for the isolator?

Im running my ignition right off of my headunit... I got a long piece of 18ga wire and just ran it back to my isolator from my dash... Just use very lil wire and its alot easier just hiding under your carpet

u run it off of your stinger battery or your optima battery if u really wanted to and just run a switch... Just have to remember to turn it on and off everytime you use it

u mean i can connect it to one of the batteries, and just run a switch and turn it off ever time i turn off the car?

A 80 amp will be fine as long as your alt is under 80 amps... But if its bigger then go with a 200 amp or if u plan to upgrade down the road....
alright cool. looks like i gotta go with the 200 amp one then. thanks for the help man! also how do you like those stinger batteries?

I love them... They are great Batteries for the price.. I just bought another one... I have ran a pair of IA 40.1's off of three of them and also ran a Stetsom 7kd and im running a Stetsom 7k2d right now off of them... The lowest I ever dropped to was a 10.7v when I did the power test on the 7kd... And about your first question... Yes u can... As long as u have 12v source running to it for the ignition it dosent matter were it comes from ....

alright thanks bro. sounds good, i might pick up 2, I bought one off bumpin buick might pick up another one if i can get some more money together.

Really good idea to isolate. Like was stated above you will drop a couple of tenths in voltage due to the isolator. You can make this up by installing an MLA adapter and boosting your voltage up at the alt.

ya ill give up the couple tenths if i can have the batteries last a while, id rather not have a couple hundred dollars of batteries as paper weights. so ill order that one 200amp stinger one soon. thanks guys.

how much power you guys think the red top up front + stinger spv in the trunk with stock 110amp alt is good for? i have my hifonics 2008d running right now and dont get any dimming unless its at full tilt on some songs. im thinking i should of bought two from bumpin buick rather than just one just to be safe.

If you have room for a second SPV70, I would do it. As cheap as he is selling those, you really can't go wrong. More battery storage is never a bad thing. The only things that would stop me from adding another would be weight, space, and money. Since they are cheap, it is down to space and weight. That part you have to decide for yourself. Good Luck!
