optima question

ok i have 2 optima blue tops that wont crank my car (i bought a deep cycle interstate battery for that) but hold a voltage of 12.6 when charged...would they still be good to use for car audio even tho they dont have the CCA?
If they only hold a max voltage of 12.6v they are probably not good. They should charge up to at least 12.8v with a full charge. Anything less shows that the batteries are either stratified or sulfated.

like they were charged at advanced auto and tested and only put out 6 ca.
lol they are shit

like I said resting voltage doesnt mean shit. I dont know why everyone in the ca world thinks it does. I could take a 10 year old batt and throw a 200amp jumpstart on it and it will show over 12v but as soon as you try to power something with it then it will die.

Just chuck them.

what do you mean wont, like you tried? Or you think they wont? Resting voltage doesnt mean shit btw. They can read 12v or whatever all day long but when you put a load on them they just puke like 100cca
That is terrible advice. You can't just make blanket statements like that. Resting voltage is a good indicator of may things. At minimum it tells you the depth of charge of a given battery. Voltage alone will not tell you everything, but it is far from worthless info. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

define depth

I have seen batteries meter 12.8 and as soon as you put a load on them drop significantly.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif
