Reconing subs, got spyder glued down. Now surround has a 1/2" gap. how to fix??

I feel bad now because I know SPL does good work. Not trying to make the guy look bad. I think this was just a set of circumstances and he is optimistic about it, and for good reason. He knows how the customer intends to use it.

why feel bad? yes he does great work, but in this instance, IMO, its not great...

ahh dont feel bad.

understand i explained i didnt have a 4 spoke to the customer with me and build off measurments given by customer. i knew my 15" 12 spoke is close yet not a stock 12 spoke.

could i have it laid better if i had a basket sure, will it really effect anything in the end no.

i have sence ordered a 4 spoke 15" for kits, i have alot of baskets sitting here just to set up kits.

on another note, i never understood why drop in recones never came with the cone unattached... its MUCH easier to assemble that way... simply drop the coil with spider. let that glue and set up. lay your bead on the former for the cone and lay a bead on the basket. drop the cone and viola. cone is set down nice without any sort of gap.
It doesn't sound like you've done too much speaker building.

The issue here isn't improper assembly, it's that that particular cone is a bit taller/deeper than other cones. If the base of the cone is sitting right on the spiders how is any different assembly method going to matter?
