Recone pros advice hurry.

I've helped someone do a Fi recone when it was discovered black rubber cement was sent instead of CA glue. 3x we had to re-do it and I Finally used my DD glue. DD CA glue > all others, imo.

its really not hard at all, i used a manilla back to a spiral notbook for the shim and the spider glued perfectly that was easy just the surround took a lil more time and babying, but when i put the gasket on i just left it and it came out good havent yet put on the dustcap but i will today //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif imma use GOOP for that.

when it was discovered?

could you write any more cryptically?

passive sentences FTL

Which is why we dont provide any glue to anybody anymore with recones.

Either they don't know how to use CA, or they dont understand that rubberglue is to be used on the surround...and takes a while to dry.

Trying not to call out particular people, but:

The rubber cement instead of CA glue was discovered when I was doing a Fi softparts on XXX motor for Quakeroatmeal.

The first time I tried to glue the spiders on, the 'glue' didn't ever set up. I thought mabe the nice paint coating was keeping the glue from sticking or MAYBE I used too much accelerator. We pulled it all off and ground down both the surround and spider landings. Re-glue, SAME SH!T. I said 'it's acting like rubber cement!" sure enough, that's what it was. We opened the second bottle, same crap in it. At this point, he was screwed.

We sanded down as much as we could on the spider to remove the CRAP that was sent to hold the spider on. I went in and got some of my extra DD glue and fixed him right up.

I don't see why the OP has problems with gluing on the surround. Just apply CA glue to the landing and use a popsicle stick to push it down. Then spray some accelerator and you're done. The glue should cure almost instantly.

Either you're not doing something right or you've got crappy CA glue (or maybe it's not even CA glue).

You can't use accelerator on rubber glue...it has to air dry....it's not CA glue, CA is completely different.

The rubber glue is intended to use on the surround and spider landing on the XXX's originally, put the gasket on the surround and let it set over night = dry. It never cures 100%, it stays 'rubbery'...CA accelerator will do nothing but turn it to mush and it'l never cure.

im just saying you shouldve said we figured out it wasnt ca glue

saying what you said reminds me of a 5th grader's sentance structure, and is very hard to read

that's good to know IF I didn't already know it. He told me it was CA glue.

Holding down a spider and/or surround until that rubber crap dried was not gonna happen, and won't happen with me doing recones.
