Recone options

I have two atomic apacolypse apx 12's and one needs to be reconed. I have a friend that has the same subs and he's reconed his a few times and the recone kits he gets from atomic fall apart after a few months. Is there any other options for refining my atomic that will make it last for a very long time? I don't want to spend a ton of money on the atomic recone kit if I'm just going to have troubles with it
