Recone old triple stack Fi BTL 15 or new suggestions

Hey guys. I've been out of the scene for a few years now and I'm about to get back into the swing of things. I have an old Fi BTL triple stack fully loaded subwoofer that I was thinking about using. The question is. Do you believe I should stick with that or are there any other new woofers that I should look out for? I'm open to any suggestions. I plan on using a single sub set up and I am going to get a new amp as well. My old Autotek mx5000 died on me years back so I figured why not get a new amp as well. The single sub set up will be in the trunk of a 2005 Honda civic. Power will not be an issue because I plan on purchasing a suitable amp for whatever sub I choose to use. There are just some new brands that have popped up over the past few years that I've never heard of and I just want a nod in the right direction. My current BTL is a D1 configuration. I don't plan on running .5 ohm just yet but I may in the future after some upgrades.

All in allall, I'm just looking for sub suggestions atm. I'll use the amp section for amp suggestions. Thanks guys

Ps. I emailed FI aboutrecone over a month ago and I still haven't gotten a response. Not sure if I should try again or just move on because I think that's bad business.

Nothing wrong with the 3 stack BTL and IMO theres not much going that'll be a huge upgrade unless you have some unique needs. Fi is notorious about being slow at building and returning contacts but to the best of my knowledge they never burned anybody and their parts will likely be as good quality as you can find.

If you want to try something different for the sake of trying something different, go for it but don't expect any dramatic difference once you're at that level equipment.

If it needs a recone contact psi. The triple stack is still a great sub . Get a taramps 2ohm 8k or a solid Korean 4k at .5ohm for power. if space is an issue a lithium battery might be a good option.

Don't do a Taramps as they are junk. Any good amp repair company will tell you this. The btl is a beast of a sub for sure and true at that power rating. You won't find much better. As far as reconing it. If you get gap measurements. I might have a solution

Thanks guys. The reason I need a recone is because the wires off the tinsel leads has broken apart a couple times now. Also, it seems to be hard to find a solid 2 ohm stable amp. But I can always run a bigger amp that outs out decent 2 ohm power for the time being. I may change to two subs in the future but I enjoy have a single sub because it seems to mess with people's heads lol. Well are there any other places I could send it for a recone? Also, is it possible to change the sub from d1 to d2?

^ thanks for the tip. I sent Fi a message via FB about 30 min ago. I'll give them 24hrs to respond. If I don't hear anything, I'll check with psi.

LMK if you want a Taramps amp. HD8000s are on sale and going cheap now. I can get you one in 2ohms as well.

8000 watts RMS at 2ohms at 12.6 volts.

Talk to any of the better amp repair companies. They'll all tell you that any of the Brazilian amps are time bombs waiting to blow up Ask Steve at amp medics. Dbr or amp repair center.

My friend has been running stetsom amps for years in his SUV. Go to a lot of shows and does demos as well as competes and he has never burned them amps up, original owner from day 1. And he is a word record holder for Maryland in his class, maybe others have abused past the breaking point or didn't have the power to back them up. I'm still waiting for my CT amp to catch fire also lol

U gots mail

Currently considering these amp lines

1. American bass

2. CT Sounds

3. Incriminator

4. DD

5. Soundqbed

6.Sundown

7. Twisted sounds (anyone with experience with these that can offer advice on yay or nay?)

I'm sure there are others but I can't think at the moment.

DD, Sundown, and Incriminator are probably best quality, but you're going to pay for it.

I'd run Twisted Sounds. I'm waiting for their 8.5k to get back in stock, and that's what I hope to get

Big CT amps let their smoke out and Soundqubed is budget. American Bass is iffy depending on what you get

I ran the stetsom kd models and a sd 8000 with no issues but these new lines are made very cheap. I've seen a new stetsom evo blow for no reason twice ,both times new amps also have seen many sd amps blow for no reason
