I dont listen to rap allot. I useually listen to really hard & fast stuff like Slipknot, slayer, Lamb of god. How big of a sub should I get? Any Recommended subs?

--Ohh also someone told me 10" subs are good for that kind of music. How is Kicker CVR10 10"?

depends on your budget but si mags come to mind along with w6v2's and some diamond audio d6's

Dont have Amp or Box yet. Hoping to find sub first and go from there. I would like to use a single sub though.

Id use a single 10 and look into what denalilvr mentioned. Id use a recommened size sealed box or a smaller ported box. And give the sub alittle more over its RMS. Dont use a cheap amp either. You tend to get more distortion from metal and hard rock songs. But if you buy the cd's you shouldnt have much to worry about. Most of the metal ive listen to on my sub was a 128kb download.

Size of the sub will be dictated by how much space you have and how loud you want it. Bass isn't just for rap. If you are willing to give up a decent amount of room, then it would make sense to go with a 12 or two. If space is at more of a premium, an 8 is a viable option.

For rock and metal, a ported box can sound really good if set up correctly for the sub.

go with a 12'' type R in a 1.75- 2 foot enlosure tuend to 33 powered by the hifonics bxi 1206d

I would tune a little lower, maybe 30 or 29. But type r's are good budget subs and are quite common.

yeah, my old box was tuned to 28, my new one is 33.
