I ran 4000+ on a pair of 12's... it was medium-high power to me... not high powerMay I know meaning of low power sub-stage? Is it because I only have 400 watts RMS. If so it's still pretty a lot of bass. I feel it nice you know.

Not sure. Just that 1st there is some shaking, which is prob enclosure.what do you feel you are lacking?.. lower notes?.. those prefabs are tuned high usually

shaking?... Rattling?... what do you mean?.. does it sound loose or something? Not sure. Just that 1st there is some shaking, which is prob enclosure.Wasn't sure if I should get ported or sealed with Sony and same time might as well get a new sub you know so dunno.

Yeah, like that, rattling. If we push on the box it goes away kind off. The enclosure is old I think and just deteriorated with time.shaking?... Rattling?... what do you mean?.. does it sound loose or something?
Ahhh... just build a new enclosure and you'll be better off than buying a new sub... for your power that sub is fine and they sound OK in a 36hz box... maybe tune just a little lower than that to 34hz so it'll sound deeper to you... try a 1.5 ft3 net box with a 3" round port 9" long... can you build one?Yeah, like that, rattling. It's that, comparing my setup to my friend's 300 watt RMS powered sub, his sound so better when it's cranked up. It's a sealed one. Theres deep bass and all that.
I can't really build one. Like, I'm a DIY guy as it goes for cars, but woodworking I really hate it. Not table saw here and all that, still live at parents and can't really have my own wood shop kind of thing you know.Ahhh... just build a new enclosure and you'll be better off than buying a new sub... for your power that sub is fine and they sound OK in a 36hz box... maybe tune just a little lower than that to 34hz so it'll sound deeper to you... try a 1.5 ft3 net box with a 3" round port 9" long... can you build one?
I'm gonna stop now... sealed is what you are focusing on so give it a try... hey, you might be happy with however it turns out... good luck!I can't really build one. I was thinking maybe getting the box I linked you and try it out but someone people tell me it might not be a good idea since ported ones need to really be to spec to sound fine across the whole hz range and recommend just go with a sealed pre fab.
So I was thinkling going that route and same time picking up a Pioneer TS-W311S4 to which will comes with proper screws and the box will more appropriately match the manufacture recommended enclosure volume.
Well, I would definitely prefer ported. But the prefab ported box I linked for example, will it sound good with it? Or the only way is to DIY a box.I'm gonna stop now... sealed is what you are focusing on so give it a try... hey, you might be happy with however it turns out... good luck!
I saw no link... I'm old and blind tho... do you mean that sound ordinance box?Well, I would definitely prefer ported. But the prefab ported box I linked for example, will it sound good with it? Or the only way is to DIY a box.
And should I get the new Pioneer sub or not? It depends on what volume I go for the box. Or just get another sub suggestion here.

Try using Torres box tuning calculator... it'll give you a cut sheet to take to home depot or somewhere and they'll usually cut for free... for your power I'd try a 1.5 ft3 net box... with a 3" round port tuned to 33-36hz... that will sound 100% better than that prefab using the same sub... or if you want I can whip one up really quick for ya' in TorresYes sorry. I was speaking about the page with that sound ordnance box.
Because some people tell me it will only sound good with prefab ported box at certain hz of bass. You know Like I could still get it and try it out and return it in case it's really not great, but at a cost you know.
And also, should I stick with the Sony sub or something new.
Sure go ahead.Try using Torres box tuning calculator... it'll give you a cut sheet to take to home depot or somewhere and they'll usually cut for free... for your power I'd try a 1.5 ft3 net box... with a 3" round port tuned to 33-36hz... that will sound 100% better than that prefab using the same sub... or if you want I can whip one up really quick for ya' in Torres
Ported boxes generally have at least 3db gain around tuning they'll play about 4-6 hz under tuning as well before all cone control is lost... and the upper frequencies? you mean the 40-60hz range?.. they'll still be there just at or around 0db... I usually model sub/enclosures but that sub you have is not worth it... you'll see the most gain on a 400 watt amp with a different enclosure... a basic low power box... you want a lower tune?.. even a 36hz tune will play close to 30hz but not under that very well ... a 35hz tune will sound LOW to you if what you had was that prefab you linkedSure go ahead.
Just to be clear, with a ported box tuned for a certain HZ, like to me, will it be much louder at that frequency? I do listen mostly to rap and hip hop, but every song is different no? Sometimes it would be higher than 33-26hz?

yeah thats what all normal people think. When you hear a properly done 400 rms setup this is what you can expect. Not sure. Just that 1st there is some shaking, which is prob enclosure.Wasn't sure if I should get ported or sealed with Sony and same time might as well get a new sub you know so dunno.
