Recommended box?

Very true. I'll see if I can get with someone on here that's local and knows what they're doing.
My ideal box would fit between the front seats of my Tahoe as a console replacement. This would make the box longer than wider probably.

JL's website has "prowedge" boxes, but nothing cubed or rectangular. WTF?
What year taho and got any dimensions I'm sure you could make something work. Save some room and port it with aeroports as well.

I think I am going to be doing something similar in my F-350 as there is no room behind the back seat so gonna pull out the center seat and build a box in there.

It's a 1997 2Dr Tahoe. Don't have a center console now, so that's what I would like to do. Aeroports? Man there's a lot I don't know about car audio.

Just go with a standard rectangular sealed box and build a console around it maybe?
You could do something like that. I looked at a few pics of 2 door Tahoe's and doesn't seem to be too much room between the seats to fit a 10 but up in front of the seats over the ****** tunnel should be enough room. Could probably get plenty of airspace, just need roughly a 12" x 12" area to mount the woofer.

This is definitely something you would have to work on more yourself getting dimensions and maybe even building the entire box yourself. but it wouldn't be too hard to do, plenty of guys on here who will walk you through the steps.

JL and MTX both make "stealth" and "thunderform" boxes that are console units to replace the factory console. I've had a thunderform in another vehicle and was pleased. If they can do it with molded plastic, I should be able to do it with MDF and a little creativity.

Did a little fiddling and came up with this, not a complete design by any means but just something to get started with.

I'm sure you know much better the dimensions you are working with. But to start this is roughly 1.25 ft^3 Might be able to gain a little more height depending on what you want, might have to squeeze it down on the sides a bit too depending on how close together the seats are, but in any case give ya an idea of what you could do.

Or you could pick up some really mean subs and build a big box in the back and really pound lol. Couple 18's off 2k RMS a piece in 12 cubes tuned to 32hz, come on now lol

HAHA that would be badass, but expensive and would kill all cargo area I have. 18's????

Someone suggested a single 15 (or possibly 2), and that is doable while keeping a little cargo area. But alot more money than I want to put into this one.

Yea it would definitly kill the cargo area, but some do it. Plenty of 18" subs out there Fi SSD, Q, BL, and BTL, Re audio SX, MX, XXX, MT just to name a few

yea the XXX is big money, much too rich for my blood. RE is supposed to make some pretty good stuff, I haven't tried it personally but have heard good things around, maybe if you end up looking to upgrade you can get some RE subs from your buddy.

With the height you can get behind your back seat you could probably build a pretty tall and shallow box so it wouldn't take up too much room. Or maybe do some little stealth install on the sides of the compartment with a small sealed figerglass enclosure in the spare tire well or something.

Well there is actually another guy with a 2dr Tahoe that did build a custom stealth box in the back right corner, fitting a shallow mount 10". Do shallow subs perform near as well as regular subs?
