Yes.You just answered my question with multiple questions. My point is I don't know enough about car audio to pick the right box. Does it depend on my preference as to what type of music I listen to, how much low bump I want versus crisp bass?
could try a correctly constructed ported enclosure. you would be able to bring out the low low's and still be able to reproduce the music accurately.Lot of hip-hop and rock. Really just want to maximize the potential of the sub.
I want the best SQ really, lots of crisp bass. Would be nice to have the ability to hit all the low notes though.
I was thinking ported, just never used one. My buddy has 4 MTX 15"s in a large ported box, hits all the lows and still stays remarkably crisp. He has a good box builder for a friend.could try a correctly constructed ported enclosure. you would be able to bring out the low low's and still be able to reproduce the music accurately.
will if you like the way his sounds and the box builder is reputable. I would go thru that box builder. For that driver I would say 1.25 - 1.75 cubic ft. with atleast 20 sq. inches of port with a tuning in the 32-35hz range would sound great //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gifI was thinking ported, just never used one. ya that is one of many things that should be taken into account when building an enclosure. the tuning of the box depends on the length of the port and size of the port pertaining to the internal size of the boxJL's website says the Free air Resonance (Fs) is 32.97Hz. Is that what people are looking at when you "tune the box to 33Hz"?
if he does a good job like you say he does. I know there are also alot of other guys on this forum from the DFW area maybe they could help you out.So if I go to the builder and say I want a ported box for this 10" tuned to 33Hz he'll be good to go?
Very true. I'll see if I can get with someone on here that's local and knows what they're doing.if he does a good job like you say he does. I know there are also alot of other guys on this forum from the DFW area maybe they could help you out.
ya they want you to buy from them and spend way to much lolVery true. I'll see if I can get with someone on here that's local and knows what they're doing.
My ideal box would fit between the front seats of my Tahoe as a console replacement. This would make the box longer than wider probably.
JL's website has "prowedge" boxes, but nothing cubed or rectangular. WTF?
