recommendations for a XXX 07

Personally Id port the thing. In a low tuned ported box, it will still sound exceptional, and output will obviously be much greater. The 07 xxx is already an efficiency nightmare, at least port the thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

If you want to fiberglass, I wouldn't recommend constructing the entire thing out of glass. Use wood baffles/walls/braces whenever possible, and use the glass to tie it all together into the shape you want. Much stronger, much less fiberglassing.

What's this going in again? You have an suv or hatchback iirc.

it'll be in a denali or a XL

No, it's not.

Any 18" woofer with 54mm of throw one way is not designed to blend well with a front stage.

If you believe so you aren't the sharpest tool in the shed.

While it may be a nice sounding woofer it was not designed with true SQ in mind. It is a subwoofer designed to kill in output, and be excessive.

Having an 07 XXX is a lot like doing a fat girl, it may feel good, and it'll sound good to your ear, but really all you have is a big obnoxious object that could really make the ground shake.

You are reading way too much into what I said.

But the point is you don't necessarily need an "SQ" sub to compete. Many people do quite well with subs that aren't considered "sq".
Lets keep this in context. Those 'SQ comps' were all jusged at low volume levels (126db or less iirc). IMO its not THAT hard to make any decent sub sound very good at such modest listening levels. That doesn't mean Id run out and buy a solo-x for my 'daily SQ' system... would you?

There's a reason you see IDQ's etc in the SQ lanes and solo-x's etc in the SPL lans. Subs are designed/built for fairly specific purposes. This does not mean subs cannot perform a different role 'well', but imo to just act like any sub is capable of any performance is overgeneralizing things way too much.

i agree....

ok i'm probly going to go with a sealed enclosure about 50/50 F-glass/1" mdf, and a RF t30001bd... the mids/highs amp will be an old rockford power 750x...

few more questions...

what are some good comps that would go well with that substage?

i'm liking these "hertz" cause i love ribbon tweets are they any good?...

also what kinda of upgrades do you think i'm looking at electrically?

probly 0/4 awg big 3, 2 yellow tops, bout a 220 alt, and breakers instead of fuses to save some money?

You want loud and SQ and people say that muti big subs are not the way to go? HAHAHAHA ooops did I say that at loud? Try talking to Alma Gates! or someone who gose by the name of TimeKeep! I myself like sq and systems that play music loud! I mean stupid 160db TL loud. Not no 10 sec burp. I myself used 4 15" Digital Designs 9515s with 4 Digital Designs Z1 and back it up with 3 alt and 11 batteries.... 10 monsters in the back in one large bank. I love the DD subs but am pulling them out this summer to swap out to 3 RE XXX 18s.

thats great yeah i'm not up for paying 15 grand for a system after buying a denali when i'm not going to be able to listen to the full potential of the system costing 4 grand without losing my hearing... there is NO point in having a daily listening system that does 160 bds... that is as you put it, STUPID LOUD
