With D2, you need an amp that puts out the rated rms of the sub at 4 ohms not 2 ohms and with D4, the rated rms of the sub at 2 ohms.........there's other wiring option also

The one on sale is only d4, so you need about

600W rms @ 2 ohms

Wait for a nice JL 500/1 to come up used on the

forum classifieds. Try not to pay over $225 shipped and

look for someone with refs.

Why spend that much on a 500w amp. You can get tons of amps that size for $50-100 less that are just as good. The only advantage the JL has is the ability to put out the same power across a wide range of impedences. But I'd rather pay a little extra and get a PG Xenon 1200.1 that can do the same thing with double the power.

I like the 500/1 because it works on a wide range of input voltages too, not

just output impedences. But I see your point on power, there are many amps

more powerful for just a little more money. But I still think for certain installs

the 500/1 is an excellent value when purchased for the right price. This particular

install in my opinion falls into that category.
