Recommend me a CHEAP quality amp

yeah dont get that shit

you can get a CVR and someone can make u a custom sealed box for that price

I got a CVR and 500 watt amp on sale for $160 if your interested you would just need to get a box

For $250, you could get a Fi Q or something similar, and just build your own box. Or look into Kicker subs without an enclosure, and then build your own box. Either way, don't go prefab on your enclosure.

You could even look into shallow-mount subs. Kicker, RE, etc..... Quite a few to choose from these days. Definitely do some more looking, at sites other than Crutch. Nothing there but high prices. It's a great site for research, but I rarely buy from there.

I've been searching I only have 8" to deal with behind the seat in my truck and I want a pretty decent sound out of them.
I can fit a full size 12" behind the seat of my std cab s10. PG RSd, Memphis M Class, and several other "full size" subs have fairly shallow mounting depths.

Otherwise, look into a couple beefy 8s. You'll get better sound than with a slim-line sub, and you'll still get a shallow mounting depth and small box

Thanks for the help guys, any links to good, cheaper shallow mount subs that you recommend and maybe an amp to go along with them. I am looking at spending $300-$350 on this. I can build my own box no problem.

For 350 total you can put together a nice system

Do you have a head unit?

The amp says 1-4Ohm. If I were to go with another amp what ohm would you choose? I am having trouble finding it on the website. Thanks for the links.

Would you recommend a ported or sealed enclosure. My W1's were sealed and I would have liked some more loudness. Also would you recommend 400W for a power acoustic amp also?

2 or 4 voice coil...sorry I am new to this. I would like to get an amp new for around that price as long as it can push the subs well.

If you get the dual 2 ohm coils, you need an amp that puts out that power at 2 ohms. If you get the D4s, you need an amp that will put out power at either 4 or 1 ohms.

As for the enclosure, I would go ported. The requirement on those is small enough that you should have plenty of room behind the seat of your truck.

And for the amp choice, you will have a VERY hard time finding a better amp for that price. Instead of focusing on whether an amp is new or used, focus on whether or not it is a good amp. I would never buy anything made by Power Acoustik. The only decent amp you'll find new for that price might be a Profile, but I would take the used Xenon over those budget amps any day of the week.

Read around some more. After lurking here since 2005, you should probably know some of this stuff.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

With D2, you need an amp that puts out the rated rms of the sub at 4 ohms not 2 ohms and with D4, the rated rms of the sub at 2 ohms.........there's other wiring option also

IMO:

Sealed + 3/4"MDF + prefab = no problem

Here you go:

box .7 c ft sealed, fits in your truck

$29

ED 12 on sale

$70

specs

The one on sale is only d4, so you need about

600W rms @ 2 ohms

Wait for a nice JL 500/1 to come up used on the

forum classifieds. Try not to pay over $225 shipped and

look for someone with refs.
