So your going off to school I would get a 99-02 Toyota corolla they are in your price range great on gas easy and rather cheap to maintain and there built rather well.

I think I'm leaning towards the SC300...

an AE86 Corolla would be fun though, and of course the Civic would be easy and cheap.
