so where should i start? any advice from an experienced builder like you would be more than welcome. would it be good to start with a junk sub and work from there?

start with something with a 2.5" coil that is more reasonable cost to rebuild cause you WILL make mistakes its all part of learning

also look for a sub with a bigger gap...

use a motor that alolow good throw so you can punish and find ur weak points then rebuild stronger....

As long as you are able to find the coil that fits the brand doesn't really matter. Just don't over pay for some off brand type of driver.
