Rear Speakers

I unhooked my back speakers to hook up new ones. I figured the brown wire was the ground and yellow was positive and hooked up my new ones but they wont work. Help I have a 2001 335xi

Did you by chance switch the wires around to see if that solved the problem? Why didn't you just see what was + and - on the old speaker?
