Rear Fill

Okay.. I have an 03 Impala, the rear speakers are stock 6x9's,

I am wondering if a 6.5 comp set would be better than going back with the 6x9's coaxil or a 6.5 coaxil set or just removing the rear speakers all together would be best.. Front Stage is 6.5 Massive Audio SK comp set.

any suggestions?

lol everyone does
No but on a more serious car audio related note I like using comps in all doors. A lot of people will say all you need is fronts but I feel like if you have it and want to improve your overall sound why not use the openings you have unoccupied (or occupied by junk/factory) to something nice that will improve overall sound?!?!?!? I talked to mylows10 about this exact subject today. He recommended using midbass just to help cover the midrange/midbass spectrum of the whole vehicle's environment. Well, I'm not beast SQ but I do like sounding good and being loud so I use 6.5" and 1" silks in my rear doors? Does this make high frequencies harsh? Yes it can, but I have toned it back some and I feel like theres more overall emphasis in the entire vehicle of all ranges.

Plus who doesn't like bonfire parties with loud azs cranking volume levels with all doors open and getting down. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Speaking of that I think I'll take out my current comps and add another set of MP6's just because.

I'd probably just remove them all together. The bass from the sub can destroy the speakers I believe I've heard? And if they're gone, the sub can vent into the cabin better. At most though, I'd put some mediocre coaxials in there. I have my rear fill turned off, I couldn't hear it when it was on.

I was thinking about adding some comps to the rear doors but i really don't want to cut into them and boot the door just to run a comp set to the rear doors.. which is why i'm trying to figure out if doing the 6x9 deck with another set of comps would be better than some 6x9 coax's... and ya i do usually have people riding in the back 2-3 times a week sometimes more.

^^^ whatever I do with the rear fill it will be sealed off from the trunk...

yeah... I'm going to rip the stock 6x9's out this weekend and see how it sounds without them... then i'm going to do a 1/2" seal off for the rear deck from side to side. and leave the 12x12 breather opening open and redo the deck carpet in audio friendly fabric cover.... if i get around to it anyway but atleast get the rear stocks out when i redo my grounds to my amps

When I redo my full sub stage " debating on doing 1 15" or 2 12"s port into cab subs facing inside trunk. unless i can fit a 4th order with 1 15 or 2 12"s in my trunk with space for luggage, since i travel a lot for work / rear fill stage etc... I will do a complete build log.... I've just been lazy at doing the build logs for everything i've done so far... been meaning to do a video how to for DMM setting amps for everyone asking how to do it since most people can't read directions.

I'm driving a '99 malibu and I'd say our trunks are about the same, I'm gonna attempt to do a 2 15" vvx build sometime in the future just in the trunk (we'll see if I can fit it) I'll let you know how that goes haha.
