Rear deck & front spkrs VS front only

Thanks again guys for the info!  I was wondering if the mid bass needed to be enclosed ( its own separate chamber ) when I do the doors?  I can see the 6.5 doing ok using the air space inside the door, but was unsure about the mid bass ( was no recommended enclosure size / type on site ).  I was also trying to find another place to buy the 6.5" as they are out of stock and did not see it on amazon or sonic etc, SSA is out as well.  I wanted to start making my doors soon and at least get the speakers ordered as soon as possible.  Let me know any suggestions you would have on the doors or another place to purchase the 6.5".  I appreciate it a lot!  One other item, the amps are pretty inexpensive, I don't see any differences in the two different series ( 8604 vs 8704 ).  If I was able to pick up two of the 8604s for $100 total should I go for it ?  Thanks again guys!  Little busy this weekend but I will hopefully be able to check back in.  Hope you all have a good weekend!

you want to use some kind of baffle on the midrange to prevent rear wave cancellation between the two drivers if you plan on doing both inside the door.

The midbass will need the whole door while the midrange wont need much since its only focusing on the midrange.

Hey thanks again Jeffdachef, I really appreciate the help.  Not sure what to do at the moment about the UN 6.5" as I have not been able to find them anywhere.  Every place I check they are out of stock.  I sent an email to them asking for possible arrival date, but no response yet.  So I may have to go with a different 6.5" if it is going to be a good while yet before they are back in stock.

I have been looking at DSPs a lot and it does not look like there are a ton of options in the 8 channel output area.  With so many people running a three way and sub / subs, I would think there would be more on the market then there is.  With my head unit having a seperate Subwoofer output would I be able to go with a 6 channel and a 2 channel, or two 4 channel, one for each side?  Just trying to see if there is any alternatives.  Most of the 8 channel DSPs are in the $600-$800 range with the exception of the Cadence and PRV models and maybe one or two companies that I have never heard of.  I have not been able to find that many articles or posts recommending certain ones besides those "top ten review" type sites.  Dont get me wrong I would love to spend $800 on the nice Audiocontrol one, but would like something a little less expensive lol.  Any recommendations in this area by chance?  Thanks again!

I got chu.... viola one of the best budget dsps out there. On your playstore or apple store, look up dayton dsp app and see how everything is controlled.

https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dsp-408-4x8-dsp-digital-signal-processor-for-home-and-car-audio--230-500

I'd recommend getting the bluetooth dongle to tune everything from your phone.

https://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dsp-bt40-bluetooth-data-and-streaming-usb-interface-for-dsp-408--230-502

prv is pretty good there's two options, one is cheaper, still pretty damn loud, bigger heavier ferrite magnet, warmer sound. 93 db sensitivity, 125 to 4,500 Hz response basically drops right where the tweeter picks up at.

https://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/products/prv-audio-6mb200-4-6-5-inch-4-ohm-mid-bass.html

other option is stronger neo magnet, expensive, can get really effing loud and has a much brighter sound signature, can throw 450 rms to each no problems and will get louder, clearer and more detailed with more power, but will still get loud  and clear off 100 watts easy. 96 db sensitivity 105 to 12,500 Hz so you can literally run this full range if needed but the sound can be a lot brighter due to this if you wish to tune so, you'll have full control from the dsp.

so it'll be your choice based on the sound signature you want and your budget between the two.

Jeffdachef ....you...are....awesome!  If I didn't live all the way over on the other side of the country I would buy you a beer sir!  I ordered all my speakers!!!!!!  Only downside.. I could not get the anarchys =(  They only have one available and that is it, I have to admit I was looking forward to seeing the low end they could do, the Crescendo 6.5" will still be roughly another month ( just got email from them ).  So final purchase was the Prv 6.5" the 6MR500s ( woot ), the CT2s and the PWX 8".  Most places were out of the 8" as well but got lucky and found one single place that has some in stock lol (800woofers).  I saw that DSP while I was looking around and was not quite sure about it really.  Purchasing the Dayton DSP saves me the extra $250 -$300 I was going to possible spend ( around $400ish total ) for a DSP!   You are the man!

So now with the extra savings and the more powerful 6.5" I may get an extra 8704 amp for the 6.5s OR bridge both 8704s for the 8" and 6.5" speakers and use my Alpine A/B 4 channel bridged to the tweeters. 2x200 rms ( more watts cant hurt right? 😃 ).  Will probably make that decision later on as I would like to hear them first on the 100 watts rms.  I also need to figure out what size alternator to get ( amp wise ), all I am running my current setup from is stock alternator ( 80 amps? ) with yellow top Optima battery and a Cap.  Need to read up on that more as well.

Thanks again guys for all the guidance you have given me, I really do appreciate all the help.  I will hopefully be taking pics of everything we do and update you guys.  If I hit some snags ( which I am sure I will! lol ) I will be asking for some advice along the way.  I will talk to you soon, and thanks again for all the help you have given me!

So...I thought I was good on all my door speakers =(  Just got my money refunded for the 8" PWX.  So no PWX and no Anarchys available.  Still waiting on an email from them about my refund but I am sure its because they do not have them in stock and did not update their website.  Soooooo lol any other suggestions for the mid bass?  Seems like every time I find one I cant actually buy it lol.  Let me know if you guys have any other suggestions, I really appreciate it!!

EDIT:  Nevermind!  Got an email from them about the Anarchys, they are in stock but was problem with website only showing one at the moment, so I will be able to get them after all!

Thanks again everyone!

Hey guys, I decided to put my saved money to a needed use, I AM THUPER EXTHITED!!  MECHMAN!!! YAAH!!  I assumed this would be the best investment I could make.  Cant wait to get this bad boy!  Been doing a lot of reading on power wire and the like, so I figured if I was going to be doing all this work and adding amps, I needed to make sure I was not a total noob and have a nice power plant.  I am like a kid on Christmas right now lol, AND my dad is getting out of the hospital today and is able to go back to rehab yay!  He had a uti, kidney infection, and was septic and we didnt know how it was going to go.  He has done great though and I am really happy hes on his way back to rehab so he can come home soon.  Well to their home lol.  Still waiting on stuff to be delivered and need to order more stuff ( of course ) but it is slowly happening!  Thanks again!  and I will update my post again soon!  Hope everyone is having a good week!

alternator is fine, coulda gotten by with a big 3 and extra rear batt as well, you arent really running that much power.  with with a 120 to 130 amp stock alt when you are running a 2k-3.5k amp + several 4 channels is the point where you need an alt. BUUUT at least now you are future proof for any major bass upgrade.  If your stock alt is 60-80 amps then yeaah alt upgrade would definitely be good.  Best thing to do is to get your system in, install a stinger voltmeter, see your voltage drops and upgrade the electrical based on that.

Ya my current alternator is only 80 amps when I got the car, nowadays its more like 50 lol.  It was barely working with the amps I currently have ( have to choose between using the AC or headlights lately, windows are superslow to rollup ).  Plus its a 15 year old alternator now and is not doing too hot.  So I figured doing it now and getting a higher amp one would benefit me more long term.  I could have spent less on it but I really wanted something that was quality and know that it was going to be doing what I wanted vs taking a chance on a cheaper product to save money.  Can not tell you how many " I wanted to save money and take the cheap route, but now I have a $200 paperweight " posts I have read in the last few weeks lol.  Plus I have an idea brewing in my little crazy head right now in the sub department lol, now that I have more amps available 😃

Hi guys!  I hope you are doing well!  I started a new thread over in subwoofers.

I am trying to get ideas for a sealed enclosure for the interior of my car.  Since my dad is disabled I really need my trunk space and I am looking for crazy ideas on where to put my sub at or getting a different one to fit the application.  Check it out and let me know if you have any input, I appreciate it guys!

Hey guys, I hope all is well !  I wanted to ask a few more questions before I started on my doors.  I got all my speakers etc in now and was thinking of the best way to do the door pods, I will include a pic and what I am thinking about doing at the moment.  Jeffdachef you had mentioned I should put an actual baffle ( enclosure kind ) on the 6.5" so it would not interfere with the 7" using the door space ( back wave etc ).  I was going to locate the 7" Anarchy in the stock speaker location and the 6.5" a little to the right of it.  With the large pocket area there, I was thinking of just closing up the area inside the pod between the two speakers and using the pocket area as an enclosure for the 6.5" ( cutting the pocket area off of the door panel to make in glass ).  I was not quite sure though on the air space as most door speakers I guess are just meant to work in IB, so was not sure if this was a good idea or not.  Let me know what you guys think and if you have any other suggestions.  I just haven't been able to make a final decision on placement of the speakers yet.  I appreciate!  Oh!  I also got a few goodies for my sub set up as well 😃

Thanks!  Let me know what you think! Doorpocket1.jpg

i'd do some kick panel enclosures so you can aim the mids on axis or to the center of the car firing up to get the sound stage higher but thats just me.  You can do your idea as long as the mid is isolated completely from the midbass.

sorry i was in vegas the whole weekend haha.

Lol, no problem!  Hopefully you had some fun there, I may be going this Sumnmer and cant wait!

Doing the mid range in the kick panels would make doing the door a little easier and it does make sense to have them aiming up.  i would probably get a lot more of the sound from them down there then in the door because of the seat or a passenger sitting there.  Kick panels seem real easy to do as well so I may try that first.  Only thing I was worried about was the airspace in a kick panel enclosure, was not sure if that was really enough room for it to function properly.  I knew I couldn't put the mid bass down there, but with the mid range playing a little higher it should be good?

I did upgrade my sub amp and sub as I thought with the amount of wattage I was running up front was going to be way more then my current sub set up.  With the 1k watts rms up front, my 12 in a sealed at 2 ohms and roughly 600 watts wont keep up.  I have the type R in a sealed box at the moment and the sound loss going from ported to sealed was HUGE.  It did sound a lot cleaner and nice crisp tight tones coming from it though which I liked a lot.  So I went with a more powerful ten inch that could handle more wattage and upgraded the amp as well.  I decided to try the Skar stuff, watched the videos on the dyno for the amp and it did very well.  So I went with a 10" EVL10 D2  ( thing weighs like three times what my Type R 12 does lol ) and a Skar RP 2000.1D amp.

From the Crazy Sub thread, just to make it easier lol

For the sub I went down to a 10".  I made a test box and put it in different areas of my car to see if it sounded good or not etc.  I was going to make a sealed armrest enclosure in the back seat, with the sub firing up and a little to the rear.  It sounded good in testing even at full volume, and the nice thing would be that I can actually move it easily to put the back seats down if I need to.  What do you think?  I have seen a ton of enclosures on instagram etc where people did console boxes or rear seat armrest enclosures ( all sealed I believe ) and thought it would be the way to go for my situation as well.  Worst case is I do a fiberglass enclosure in trunk in the side well but then his wheelchair would not fit.  Honestly though if I have to have a box back in my trunk I would really want it ported.  But in the end, after all my crazy ideas in my head on where to put the sub, the rear seat armrest idea seemed like the best solution and an easy option to build.

It did sound really good though and I left the box in my backseat for a few days listening time.  Let me know what you think?  Thanks again for your input I appreciate it!

you dont need airspace at all with the midrange down there, no issues there at all you  can make it as small as needed and use acoustic fill to smooth out midrange response or EQ it out.

we'll continue that convo on your sub thread.

Ok, sounds good!  I dont think my copy paste went through again on my sub thread but I will add it there as well again.  Happened one time before in this thread too, not sure what I did wrong lol.  Went out and got the last bit of mats I needed today so I will hopefully be doing it this weekend.  I will post some pics of my first monstrosity when I am done lol and maybe a few in between pics.  Thanks again man, I appreciate it!
