Real Point of Capasitors?

A cap gives a stable current flow to your amp, fluxuating circuit may potentially harm your amp/HU. Also, I have the voltage readout on my amp. Before I got my cap, the volts would drop down to 9 when hitting loud notes, with the cap it only drops to 11, 2 volts means an extra 150-200RMS. It definately hits harder. Trickle voltage is 14.4V. My lights don't dim anymore, and my alternator should last a whole lot longer now.

1 farad=1000watts RMS

40bux shipped off the i-net, or $200 for new alternator, and a *****...you decide

back to the fluxuating circuit, my friend had a system, the ground wasn't connected good, so it kept going on and off, magic smoke from the HU because it couldnt handle the burst volts. The cap should prevent this.

No, a proper ground could have prevented that.

And I don't know too many people who run a cap in line with their headunit.

When you think about it, a 1 farad low ESR cap in line with a HU or other low current piece of DC electronics would be good for it. If the HU can't ever fully drain the cap then it would be nothing more than a DC voltage stabilizer. Some people claim that's an effect way to kill alt whine, which is a royal pain to track sometimes.

Lord, let me let yall know.

First, a 1Farad cap is a rather large capacitor seeing as how most caps are measured in micro and picofarads.

Thy do, like Jack said play an important role in circuitry. Take a look at a schematic sometime. Anywhoo, a cap is a device that opposes any change in circuit voltage. Caps DO make it possible to store electric energy by storing electrons. People just often rely on them to be miracle workers and install them in the wrong style with expectations that are unattainable.

Just some info for ya, ever hear the whining noise on disposable cameras when you hit the flash button? That is the cap charging. The cap is what stores the energy for the flash. 64Kbit CMOS memory can retain data dissipating typically miniscule power of 0.1microwatt. A 1farad cap can support this for several weeks.

Oh wow your so full of shit! Thanks for the post.

Or, if you had a cap, you'd be safe for sure regardless of a good or bad ground.

The cap wasn't ran in line with the HU, the volts from the amp was much too high for the deck to handle, thus the voltage regulators in the deck to burn out, we opened it up and looked.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

lol, full of shit huh, ok tell me wuts wrong:uhoh:
Well, the fact that the power the amp puts out in no way affects the way the head unit works? If you think the amp puts a signal to the head unit then you are *** backwards. If your head unit let off some smoke because of the amp, it was probably the ground trace for the rcas in the head unit which would be caused by a bad rca ground. My ground trace is blown.

That would be all fine and dandy, if it wasn't for the fact that the amp doesn't send anything to the HU. So, frankly, I now have no idea WTF you are talking about //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif In order for a cap to have any affect on a HU, it would have to be wired in-line with the HU's power cable. Otherwise, as far as the HU is concerned; the cap doesn't even exist.

you still have electrical problems buddy. 11 volts is not good. on a side note i give up //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
