RE8 actual RMS?

Im not saying RE knows nothing, by any means.

What Im trying to say is, there is a lot of underrating by many companies that "know what they're doing".

For example:

Alpine Type R: RMS:500 Can easily hold up to 1000+RMS

Kicker L7 - RMS:?750? Can easily hold up to 1500+RMS

even that is install dependant. that type r might like it in a small sealed box but might not in a big ported........ what size/type of box will they be in?

yey a type r can handle 1200w everyday WITH THE RIGHT BOX - definately depends on teh box u use. If you use a small less then 2.3 cubic box that isnt even ported you wont be able to put that much power to it

put 1500 on a 12L7 which is rated at 750 and see what happens.. i'd be willing to bet you'd blow the shit out of them.. just because someone runs 2 times the recommended rms and doesn't have problems that doesn't mean you won't... they're rated for a reason...

Many many people run way over the RMS of the L7 with no ill effects.

So back to the main question, is it a good idea to run 150RMS or so to each? If so, I'll probably get a PG Xenon 400.1

3000 rms

hehe

well this one guy burped an re 8 with that and hit 134.7 on the TL with some crazy box he designed, all in a van... amp was one of those brand new rockford T-something something....the 3000wrms one

not all people can do that..... i've sent my 2 cvr's i had over 1k each for 6 months... however most people don't know the limits

and from what i've seen on this board.. most people run a 1200 watt amp on a pair of 12L7's.. not many run over 1000 watts on them..
