RE vs SE-opinions needed

Ive got 2 RE 10s right now ported @ 41hz in 2.5cuft.

I'd like to upgrade to two SE 10s but Id like some opinions first.

Are the SE's any better than the RE line?

Is there considerable amount of difference at all?

I can keep my box and use the SE's, right? (other than making the mounting holes bigger)

Thanks

If you're switching a 10" woofer with a 10" woofer, why would you need bigger holes?

Of course you can can keep your box with the new SE's, but it won't sound as good as a box made specifically for them.

I don't really know how much of a difference there is between the two subs.

some subs of the same size have different mounting diameters

umm of course theres a diff. b/w the re and se line. if they were newhere close to the same re would not make them. from my experience with them both have great sq but the se has a TON more output......thas y i bought 2 of the 12" SE's :up2som:

Switch to SE's, I've got to 15 SE's and you wouldn't believe how nice they are. This weekend I had 3 different people at different times flag me down and try to buy them from me. I love it.

The SEs would require a tid bit bigger holes than the RE. Also more power as well, and that too is an issue.

So....new amp and new subs cause I dont think my 2channel 800watt Kenwood will even shove these subs.

I've been looking at a Hifonics 1000watt 2channel amp on ebay and they are really looking good to me thus far. Surely it will push the 2 subs. Just hope it aint a long m'fer and fit under my seat no probs.

Anyone else have any opinions on the SE? Hifonics amp? Is there a better amp out there?

Don't get the Hifonics 1000...get the 1500...that's what I've got. I had the 1000 and it just wasn't enough, and the SE 12's and 15's both have a 600 rms so ya know.

The 1500s get pretty steep...but I kinda want to get an amp that gives me room to upgrade my subs if I ever want to again. Dont see any 2channel 1500W tho....still looking.

The Hifonics BX1500D...it's got 2 channels...you can use it like that or you can just wire the subs together for a 1ohm load and use just one channel. Either way you'll still get 1500 watts, well, more like 12 or 1300 probably.

get pretty steep? they're 238 dollars shipped from ikesound.com. doesnt get much more "unsteep" than that, guy.

and no it doesnt have two channels. those extra terminals on the amp are just to make wiring easier, it all goes back to the same mono channel.

Whats the difference in them?

Only difference I see is color and one is Titan and the other is Brutus.

Is one of them better than the other and Im just not seeing it?

the black titan is the 2005 model, the silver brutus is the 2004 model. considering how many posts i've seen on this board about blown brutus's in the past year, i'd definitely splurge for the new model...my $.02
