RE SE Vs Type R

Well the box im putting them is prefab, but im adding aero ports to it.

A prefab is a horrible idea, and adding aeroports to it is even worse.

He can very easily get legit answer. SQ is subjective, SPL isn't. The type R's will get louder than the SE's, given they are both in their correct enclosures with RMS power.

Any sub+ bad box = bad sound... enclosure is very important.

agreed. don't spend a dime on a sub that will go in an improper enlosure. Leave it sealed or build your own. Adding ports to a prefab probably won't have the correct airspace, or port area, or both.

Imo R's dont sound good. Espically when compared to an Se

If your using a Prefab box buy some pyle subs. Shitty enclosures can make a great sub sound like a bag-o-poopy getting hit with a hammer.

What kind of car do you have?

How much power do you have?

I have a 98 firebird, the box i bought is made for a 98 firebird, im 16, so fiberglassing is out of the question. I seen some other dude on here build a box for one, but it looks hard as shit, and i already spent like $180 on this thing, and it seems it would be a waste, unless i sold it to someone with an F-body, but that would be extreamly hard to sell.

I never messed with the SE....mannnnn i want too sooo bad....but Type Rs will get LOUD and LOW

Id go with them over alot of subs for sheer price factor

probably SE's, i guess i will suffice some SPL for sq, i want the shit to sound good, and not just be loud shitty bass.

I've put plenty of different boxes in my old F-bodies, Its not hard. They get very loud, very easily. Do not port that prefab. If you want to run it just the way it is then do that. You can have them firing off the glass or firing rear into the tail lights and both of those combinations sound awesome. F-bodies are fun

Yeah, i put my car away about a month agao for winter, and i had two shitty $40 kenwood subs as in my signature, firing aginst the glass, and they blew away my friends 15" L7 in his mustang.

I have used both, The R gets louder but the SE does a bit better on the lows and has more SQ. I personally like the SE....

i think keeping SE's sealed in the prefab, would be louder than building a box subs facing the front. the firing off the glass gets loud.

se's can get desently loud im doin 142.1 on 1000 watts. @33hz my buddy has some 2 10" type r's they sound good but not as good as the se's. hes thinking of switching to some se's ever since he herd mine.
