RE HC 12s

So, I came across a set of these, tried to find some info, but couldn't find anything. Have these been discontinued, or does the kid just now know what he is talking about? If anyone does have any info, what size box would be correct for 2 12s, what kind of tuning do they like, and whats the actual suggested power for them? Hope someone has some input. Thanks, Mike.

they are a very nice sub and can be built to handle alot more power than stock...

I was told rated RMS was 900-1000rms a piece, would that sound about right?

yea on the hcs that would be fine, I've heard 1500 myself and seen a few on sundown 1500s before. Seen plenty of beyond audio inhumans on more as well and it's pretty much the same thing.

Those are very nice subs.Do your motors have a black plastic cover on bottem?Are they for sell?

the black piece on the bottom is actually powdercoated steel. that was put there to cover the onyx logo up. they were built by re back than and they had a bunch of etched bottom plate already done so the covered them up and sold as hc's which were the same sub.

they were rated at 1200rms back then. you can use up to 3 stiff spiders on that sub and make it good for spl with a fwccaw coil.

The HC's were discontinued back when RE released the SX. The SX replaced the HC and SEXXX iirc.

thats the strange^ because the HC is alot better motor. the hc motor has alot tighter gap and alot more BL than the sx. the sx is a se with a better coil pretty much a sexxx

People at RE (Scott even iirc) was quoted as saying the SX would put up better numbers than an HC, have a wider usable bandwidth, and was cheaper. So they decided to discontinue both the HC and SeXXX. Internal testing at RE showed the SX put up bigger SPL numbers than any other sub they've built, other than the MT.

snoopdans sx/fi hybrids put up better numbers than his SHWs and on a lot less power as well if I recall correctly. Sx are beasts.. ( though I have yet to see an SxX or w/e they make now )

i took a stock se10 and made it exactly 2dbs louder by changing the soft parts. the sx is just a se with better soft parts...

I don't think so, pretty sure the motors are different sized, etc. People have said the exact same thing before on here but that was a long while back.
