I believe that Tuan commishined the drivers. didnt build them himself. they are based off of the concept csp motor...And Zeuslicious- thanks for the update. i would still contact him first.. im sure he can at least source the recones. and David at re can sure do a recone as well

So, why do these have failure? what auctually goes out on it, and what causes it? Is it something that can be fixed with a different recone, or is it just because it has the 4" vc?

The 4 inch VC plus a cut 8 inch spider. People have problem witht he tinsels snapping all the time. ITs just not a good sub all around.

No I dont think anyone makes an 8 inch spider to fit a 4 inch coil. Just doesnt make sense.

Their other 4in vc sub uses dual 10 inch spiders.

yep- there are a few baskets out there that will fit a 10" spiders no problem.. and even more that will fit 10" spiders with a little modification.. The TI basket and LA basket, and the soundstream XXX basket will accept 10" spiders, the 18" six spoke basket will accommodate them with a little modification...I think the new atomics with the 4" coil use a smaller spider.. i don't know what size for sure though.. is this destroyer blown or what?

no, its not blown. Im picking it up off of 94bubble on here. Im just getting ready, to see what my options are when it does crater. So, will finding a 10" spider basket make it last longer then having the 8"er? It would be cool if i could find someone whos sold a 10" spider for a 4" vc..lol

I dont know what to tell ya man- the TI basket should be fairly easy to source used.. the spiders, etc- contact Tim Roy at sound extreme ( i think thats what its called) he can hook ya up..

yea....thanks alot for all the input. Im just trying to see what my best bet to do is when it blows....who to send it to. I guess ill pound it a little, and see how it goes.

Start changing spiders and you're changing the sub's perameters. Dont expect it to perform the same if you do this. Do expect enclosure requirements to change. but Im not sure t/s specs are even available for destroyers anyway, but something to consider.

thanks... I will definately look into every aspect of building these, before i send anything anywhere. And who knows, like the fella said above...it could be just fine. Im not using it to compete or anything, just trying to make a semi loud daily driver. Ill run this one for a while, and if it, or when it does blow, ill probably go ahead and try to get another one! everythings better in pairs..lol

I have the perimeters for the destroyers. And the perimeters are gonna change if you get it reconed by anyone but re anyways.. thanks for noting that, i should have mentioned it myself...
