I have a 3.0 cuft box ported to 34 hz using a 6 inch aerotube. My amp is a Kicker 700.5 . The mono output is only 400 watts. I have a pair of SE 10's in it. Sounds good and all but have been wondering if it would be worth getting SRX 12's instead. Spec wise they look more suited to my 400 watts power. Would it be louder because they are 12's that might move more on 400 watts then the more powerful smaller tens?

I think it would be beneficial. The voice coils will be smaller allowing the subs to move much more freely than a sub with a larger voicecoil, requiring more wattage to make that cone move. You are underpowering those subs quite a bit. I have about 1200 watts on my RE SE 12's. I was running 700wrms a piece. Just got a new amp and its like I got new subs. Never knew what I was missing. Im putting two RE SE 10's in a friends truck with a 2kw amp, but with the gains dialed back a bit.

Thats kind of the theory I was thinking of. A 12 inch cone moving easier "more excursion" than a 10 inch cone with a higher bl and lower spl number. I bought the subs before I bought the amp. Then I got the good deal on the amp and like haveing the five channels all in one. Now it feels like I am waisting the SE10's on 400 watts. Since its installed I would rather down grade the subs or leave them as is, instead of more power with different amps.

160AH lithium that supports a 12K system is pretty lofty! I've seen dual 24's or quad 12's that will do this. Most of what 've run across is dual...

Turn the volume completely down and operate ot normally. This is to see if it is the built in amplifier that is shutting down. If the radio does...
