Rawr's new work log: TC Sounds LMS 5400 + Sundown 3000D

5400 is a linear driver, thier "top of the line" subwoofer, the 5200 is more spl orientated and you probably could get louder with the 5200...but the 5400 should sound good.

Exactly, the LMS-5400 has a ruler flat BL curve for 30+ mm. TC uses a variable density coil to achieve this effect.

The TC-5200 is a more conventional overhung design with tons of peak BL for SPL purposes.

I used Wood glue and Wood filler to mold the tweet, I felt it would not harm the tweet and would not fuse to it. I greased the tweet to be sure, but it took a while to harden(overnight) and I tried using a 100 watt bulb to help speed up the process...However it came out good enough to fleece over and will be ready for some resin soon!

what do you need fleece for? hell your already done. smooth that bich out, and cover/paint it...

I figure fleece/resin will add extra strength and make it look very very smooth.

looks great, i loved mine, was even gonna run a sundown but was told by everyone that i needed more power, ended up running a T4k on it and separated the cone from the VC.

It should handle about 6k on a D.D.

i doubt it, i was running a little under 5k and could tell it was pretty much all it could take

Lol. Could have just molded it with kitty hair... could have used a hole saw and tooth picks or popsicle sticks and then fleeced over it...

rich talked to me about mine, and i told him my problems, who knows maybe you can throw another 1500 or so on it. im the type of person once i break something i dont really mess with it anymore so i traded mine off for 2 06 xxx 12s and called it a day. I love my TC3k still though so far.

Someone told him 6k, then later on, someone else told him otherwise. We both will have a 5400 to mess around with, so we'll find out what it likes~
