I see some subs have an option for “standard” or “ohm true.” Can someone explain what ohm true is and how it’s different from standard?

I'd guess "standard" 1 ohm coil for example may have DCR of .7 or .8 while true would be 1.0. Your amp should "see" whatever true number is published. It is highly likely if you need to worry about this to optimize some sort of top tier SPL build just ordering blind won't help anyway as your actual impedance in your box in your car will be a complete unknown until the sub(s) are installed and tested.

Long story short, I'd buy "standard".

What is your budget? With being exposed to Rain.. I would recommend looking at a marine grade SAS Bazooka for the sub stage

Don't forget Hoffman's Iron Law. You can have 2 of the 3: low end, efficiency/sensitivity or small enclosure size...

The best shallow that I've heard is the JL by far. One good regular 8" sub on a 1K would probably be all that you need. Two 8's in 1.5 cubic feet...
