raising voltage

How hard is it to raise voltage in a car to say 14v(if it is currently idle at 12v)? Is it as simple as buying a custom alternator and custom battery or does all the wiring have to be changed as well? Also, would this affect the lights in the car too?

raising the voltage alone is worthless with out having the amperage to back it up. turning a vcm up to 15 will only give your voltage farther to drop with out something to support it.

that said we need more info.

what kind of system do you have in now, be specific.

is your car at 12v@ idle with the system playing or with it shut off.

and have you done any electrical upgrades to the car.

what kind of car does he have. I know eclipses have a problem with voltage regulators blowing in them. What make them **** you have to get the brain box under the hood refurbished.

I have a 04 infinti I35. Idle its 13.8v but when i put the music up it goes down to 12v. Its a stock alternator and battery. I have a soundstream rubicon 2500d and i just want to find out if i should get a alternator with same voltage an higher amperage or a alternator with same voltage but high amperage. The same goes with the battery.
