raised trucks...

Semis don't have bumpers at head level ... Nor do smart cars ...
If the rule applies to manufacturered vehicles, it should also apply to customized vehicles.
There are plenty of laws regarding bumper height on lifted vehicles, it is generally the primary requirement, least here in MA, also with headlight heights too. I know many semi trucks that can easily roll over a car or even a pickup truck, also know of trucks that have done said thing. When a 80,000lb+ truck is rolling up behind you I would much rather make the safer choice and be in a vehicle with some mass and some height.

With your reasoning it could go the same way too and make lowered vehicles have bumper regulations too. I know plenty of factory cars whose bumpers would go right under my factory bumpers, never mind if I were to get rear ended, some SUV's will go under my truck at factory height.

Why does the big guy always get picked on for the sake of the little guy, I personally don't feel safe in any of these tiny cars they produce nowadays, and I am not talking about smart cars, I mean cavaliers, aveo's, focus, civics, ect and I personally won't buy one primarily for that reason.

Bumper height can increase danger but so can sheer mass or lack thereof, but back to the bumper thing //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

the video of that little thing running around is hilarious. Looks like a pretty sweet enclosed four-wheeler lol. Its nice to see they are producing motorcycles now with "safety features" and less power to protect people lol.

I'll chime in....

I absolutely LOVE modded trucks. Lifted, or smacked, and bagged. Its just a scene. Now...I'll NEVER, EVER own a lifted truck. Its a pain to get in and out of. Gas is bad, and safety isnt there nearly as much as regular height.

BUT....I have owned, and built 3 bagged trucks, and I am working on 2 more. I love being that low to the ground. Ever seen a sports car 2 feet off the ground? No. Why? Handles better, has better aerodynamics, and all kinda other positives. I like to drive fast, I like to handle like Im riding on rails too.

But...lets not forget....I absolutely LOVE to lay it out and throw sparks. Its GREAT. I dont have to play my sound super loud to get attention. I can roll 1/4" off the ground and it's like Thor himself commanded attention to me. I'm not saying that I build nothin but fine trucks, because I know I dont. But, I drive what I build, and I'm not afraid to. If I were in a lifted truck, i'd die within 2 months. Easy. Id have to learn to drive slow, and not take turns fast like I do now.

Here's a video of my 1st drag in my last bagged truck.

It's a common misconception that lifted trucks are dangerous. Sure they have a higher center of gravity, and can't handle nearly as well as your lowered trucks, but unless they are taken to the extreme, they will still take a corner at a good speed. I didn't slow down at all with my 1/2 ton on 35's. And my new truck is even better. It's a 1-ton, so the suspension is quite stiff, and handles amazing. Even though it weighs three times as much as your little trucks.

Around here your truck would get attention, but it would be people looking at your dirty cause you ruined a good truck. It's a different scene up here.

But you can't argue with dropping the back end and throwing out the sparks. Add flames out the tail pipe, and you're showing off in a good way.

I like mine cause i can drive over sidewalks and hedges when i get stuck in traffic.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/jk.gif.ba617e50836573747a97050af2b21696.gif

what's the fckin point? i think they are gay as hell. especially with the ballsack hanging on the hitch.
you live in vegas thats why, you might as well buy a dune buggy, come to florida where theres mud and you will see the reason................//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

On that same front, somebody that lowers their truck is more likely to push it to its limits cornering and lose control than somebody that lifts their truck. What do you do right after you lower a vehicle....go hit some corners and see what it does //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I've been in 2 roll overs...and both were on a mild body lift, and mild suspension lift, 1 was 3" body and 6" suspension, the other was 3" body and 8" suspension. Only 1 came completely over on flat road. Trust me, it was scary, and we were going 30 in a 35mph turn. He had the wide wheels and everything to make up for it, but it just didnt cut it. The other...well, lets just say he was in the process of changing lanes around a turn...like on a 4 lane highway...went to the right, and the left side came up and we slid...if we didnt hit the wall on the passenger side, we would have rolled, at 65.

Dont get me wrong, I know there are ways to get it to handle "better" like the spacers to push the wheels and front axles further out to make it have a wider stance. But you know it wont handle like a smacked 3500. lol.

But...it may just be a misconception, as you said. Just from experience, it scares the shit out of me.

I'm thinking something was severely wrong with the truck/tires/lift or the story for it to go over at 30 on a 35mph posted turn.

My truck is up 8" but its all suspension, wouldn't think a body lift would make things that bad. I go to the mountains up curvy roads at the speed limit, occasionally over the speed limit because I'm an idiot, and it takes the corners flat and secure.

...not saying it corners good by any means though...its no sport truck for sure

Indeed. I don't think that anyone is questioning that driving like a dumbass can be dangerous.

If going 30 in a 35mph turn is being a dumbass...then YOU sir, are one as well as the rest of America. Hell. It was 2 days after getting the computer calibrated to match the gears and overall tire height as well. So, we know it was closer to accurate than what it was before.

I am not knocking the lifted truck...I am just saying why I wouldnt ever do it, and why I rather slammed trucks.

Fat people dont like to climb, and we dont fly very well. Gravity plays a heavy toll on us.

Did the truck roll over? If the answer is yes, then he was going to fast which means he was driving like an inexperienced dumbass.
