ok here's the deal i got these subs and they are to be 4 ohm duel VC now i had a bx 1000 hooked up to then they are wired in paralell to give me a 2 ohm final load per sub so i then wired them in paralell again at the amp to get a 1 ohm final load and the amp blew after like 6-7 months so i thought it may have been a bad amp so i bought a viper 1200.1 and boom boom the fuses blow and it happened 3 times back to back i know the wireing is right so i put a meter on the subs and each sub going into the amp said 1.3 ohm when wired in paralell so does this mean the subs are acually duel 2 ohm that would explain alot any input would help

Punctuation is your friend.

If you measured each sub while the coils were wired in parallel, then 1.3ohm is right (since each sub would be 2ohm impedence wise).

Sounds like you have a problem somewhere else. What is the equipment you are using, and where are all the settings (gain, bass boost, etc...including settings on your HU).

Well, seperate the subs, so they are not hooked up top each other and then meter to see how many ohms. if it says 1.3 ohms when eveything is hooked up, then the TOTAL is 1.3 ohms. If the sub it self seprate from the rest of the setup is 1.3 ohms then that is your problem, being about a .5 ohm load with dual 2 ohm coils.

PS: Nice avatar

when i metered it the subs were not all wired together just the duel VC from each sub . the subs are kove armaggedons.the gains on the amp were about half. so i wasn't pushing to hard. thanks for the for the speedy responce. it never really struck me to check the speakers untill after the second amp. the boxes said duel 4 so i just went with it.

You need to ********** more often.....keeps the fingers and wrists nice and loose //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsupwink.gif.129404938effda6ad9cca39e7f4b58a3.gif
I do alomost everyday!!!

Still a pretty slow typer.

Well not really THAT slow,

I am one of the fasstest typers in my class :)

Just slower then u , thats all

Then that would mean that your problem is too low of resistence. Amp is stable at 1 ohm, so .5 would not be good for the amp. The subs are in fact dual 2 ohm if u metered the individual sub and got 1.3

if each coil was 1.3 ohms, then sub would be .5 in paralell. Each coil would be 2 ohms wired in paralell to get 1 ohm, or 1.3, meaning each the sub is dual 2 ohm coils.

If he measured each individual coil as being 1.3ohm DCR, then yes, each coil is 2ohm. But, if he measure at the sub's wires, with the sub's coils being in parallel, and got a DCR of 1.3ohm, then that would mean that the coils are 4ohm each (and a 2ohm impedence load wired in parallel). The DCR is always lower than the "rated" impedence. If he measured a DCR of 1.3ohm, then the impedence load isn't 1ohm, it is 2ohm....which would mean each coil is 4ohm.

Long story short, unless he measured each individual coil as being 1.3ohm, the subs are infact a dual 4ohm sub.

hmmmm so they are 4's? i'll pull them out and read the coil by itself. if the ohm load isn't the problem i'm drawin' a blank
