I've been searching for a couple of hours now, haven't found much help yet.
I'm helping work on a car someone just bought.
It is a 1995 BMW 325i (might be an IS but don't think that matters).
Here's the problem: Aftermarket H/U was previously installed before car was bought, no sound is coming from speakers. Radio, CD player, no sound comes from speakers when either is on.
Here's specs as far as I've seen in the car: Did have an amped system, amp was taken out and speaker wires were rewired back to the front from factory install. I do not know if it were working when they did this. Wiring looks fine in the back where amp was, granted some wires not connected to anything (could be from amp powering). I looked behind H/U and checked wiring there, and looks fine as far I can see from not knowing the coloring for the speaker wires in BMW.
Questions I have:
1) Can anyone find me the wiring scheme for BMW for their speaker system? (I can't find any)
2) What can I do to check to see if it's simply the H/U and not the wiring?
3) Anyone have an idea of what might be causing this problem?
4) Are the speakers pre-amped (meaning they must have a specific ohm level)? I happen to have a 1999 mazda 626 and it had a bose system and I know that I had to get a hi-lo converter to my speakers to work, I ended changing out all the speakers.
